Main Street

Main Street is the main ET page. The buttons on top are navigation buttons, and they will appear on the top of every page. They allow you to get around ET more easily. For example, clicking on the button will obviously take you to the ET main page.

Navigation buttons

Here is an overview of the navigation buttons (they are explained later on in more detail):


Takes you to the ET main page


Takes you to your House (you can update your bio there)


Shows you who you are blocking (you can unblock people here too)


Shows mail you have receieved


Shows mail you have sent


Takes you to the Wiki pages


Shows you your notes about houses, members, etc


Allows you to search for ET members


Brings you to the forums


To exit ET


Will bring you to the tech page where you can upload a stylesheet or whatnot. 
NOTE: You will only see this button if you have opted to be part of the Elftown crew.

Lets you know you have read all posts in forums you are a member of.

What can you do on Main Street?

 Participate in polls

 Read all about the Elftown Council. What the Council does, who is on it, and some more information

 Go to the Hall of Fame, and see who has been recognized for what. If you help out, you might even make it on that list!

 Read all the help pages to learn how exactly Elftown works

 Read help pages in other languages, such as: French, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Finnish, Dutch, and Italian.

 Sign up on Meetup, to meet other Elftowners in your area

 Donate money to help Elftown out. If you donate, you get to add colors to your bio. For more information, visit <URL:donate.html>.

 Read new and old articles of The Town Herald, Elftown's own newspaper.

 Utilize Elftown's card service, where you can create your very own Elftown business cards

 Read the most recent news about Elftown

 View the latest Featured Art piece - if you are so inclined, nominate a drawing!

 Read the daily_poem - if you want, you can submit your own!

 See who the lastest Featured Member is, and maybe pay their House a visit.

 View the Wiki Awards, and see which wiki-pages are featured for the month.

Elftown Status

On the right hand corner of the page, you will see a column of statistics. If you have messages (mail), someone has replied to a post in the forum, there is ET news, or someone has written in your guestbook, you will get notification in that column.

Messages: If you do not have messages, this text will be green and say "No new messages." If you do have messages, the text will be blue and say "Whee! New messages!" Click on the text to see view your messages.

News: If there is no new news, the text will be green and say "No new news." If there is new news, then the text will be italicized and say "New News." The text is a link, and you can click on it to view the news (old and/or new).

Guestbook: If there is nothing new in your guestbook, then the text will be green and say "Nothing new in your Guestbook." If someone has written something in your guestbook, then the text will blue and say "Whee! Someone has written in your Guestbook!" You may click on this text to view your new guestbook entries.

Hits last minute: Statistics of how many hits Elftown has received in the last minute.

Pageviews last minute: Statistics of how many pageviews Elftown has received in the last minute. 

Online members: Tells you how many members are online. Click on the text to see who, as well as information such as name, pic, and location.

Messages last 24 h: Statistics on how many messages were sent/received in the last 24 hours.

Postings last 24 h: How many postings have been posted in the last 24 hours. Click on the text to see the most recent postings.

New members last 7 days: How many new people have joined Elftown within the last seven days. Click on this text to see a list of these members, with information such as their name, location, and picture.

Minutes since last posting: How many minutes has it been since someone has last posted something in the forums. Click on this text to see the latest posting.

Search for someone!

Above this column, there is a box for finding another Elftowner. Enter the username in the field and press .
If you type only half of the name (for instance because the name is really long), it will try to find the name closest to what you typed. For example if you type 'He' it will redirect you to [Hedda]'s house. This feature will only work if there is a name close to what you typed.
Or, if you know the member's number, you can enter that in the field as well. For example, entering the number "1" will also bring you to [Hedda]'s house.

Mood

Here, you can type in any mood you are feeling, or anything else you want to say. Then press the key. The text you entered will be displayed in parenthesis next to your name. For example: Xithemonas (tired of exams), where "tired of exams" is what I typed in the field.

If you want to insert images in your mood, then you can click on the text "mood" and choose which image to use. If none of the images suits your fancy, then you can upload your own. Images may be used with text.

Last Logins

Last Logins documents the users who have recently logged in. Click on their name to see their house.

Elftown Statistics

At the bottom of the page, under the world map, you will see Elftown statistics. It might look something like this:

Number of Elftown members: 48354
Number of active members: 9751
Statistics about online members
Temperature in Linköping: -1.4 Celsius
Number of members that have birthday today: 9

You can click on "Statistics about online members" to view a page with, well, statistics about online members in numerical and graphical form.

You can also click on "Number of members that have birthday today" to see a list of members who have a birthday that day. And if you are feeling nice, wish them a happy birthday. :)
